Deborah D. Shapiro

PARTNER

Deborah D. Shapiro joined her husband at Shapiro Law Offices in 1984. Her practice included Real Estate law, Evictions, Wills and Estates, and Probate work, until her retirement in 2017.  She currently serves as the office manager and general advisor.

Deborah received her B.A. in 1972 from Connecticut College, where she majored in History with a concentration in Asian and American Histories. She attended law school at the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary from 1973-1975, and transferred to the University of Connecticut School of Law after her marriage and relocation to Connecticut, where she was awarded her J.D. in 1976. She is admitted to practice in Connecticut.

Deborah worked as the Deputy Elections Attorney in the Secretary of the State’s office from 1976 until 1984.

Deborah is active in the following organizations:

Deborah lives in Middletown and serves as the Municipal Historian for the City of Middletown.  She enjoys historical research and writing, gardening, and world traveling.

Sarah H. Shapiro

PARTNER

Sarah H. Shapiro joined Shapiro Law Offices in 2004, and is now a partner of the family practice based in Middletown, CT. Her areas of work include Real Estate Law, Divorce Mediation, Landlord/Tenant Law, Wills and Estates, and Probate Work (including Conservatorships, Guardianships, and Parental Rights matters).

Sarah received her B.A. in 2001 from the Lynch School of Education at Boston College, where she majored in Psychology and Human Development (Counseling in Education). She received her J.D. in 2004 from St. John’s University School of Law in Queens, New York. She is admitted to practice in the State of Connecticut.

Sarah completed Mediator training through the CT Council for Divorce Mediation’s attorney-mediator training program in 2005. She has been appointed by the Superior Court to serve as a Special Master, helping litigants and their attorneys resolve disputed divorce cases through Alternative Dispute Resolution with the goal of avoiding trial.

She has been recognized as a Connecticut Super Lawyer annually since 2011.

Jessica McDonald

PARALEGAL

Jessica McDonald joined Shapiro Law Offices in 2017.  She has worked as a paralegal since graduating in 2014 with her paralegal certificate. She lives in Meriden, Connecticut with her husband and her two daughters. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, DIY home projects, interior design, home blogging and party planning.

Sara Tedford

PARALEGAL

Sara joined Shapiro Law Offices in 2019 as a paralegal with many years of experience. She lives in Middletown with her husband and daughter.  In her spare time she enjoys hiking and going to the beach.
